One-on-one video

Make It a One-on-One Video Call

Every match on GoMatch ends up in the same place: a 1v1 video call with exactly two people in it. Here is what that call is, how to be ready for it, and how to leave it well.

What the Call Actually Is

A 1-on-1 video chat on GoMatch is deliberately unexciting as an interface: two video panels, two people, and a leave button. No stage, no viewer count, no chat scroll from strangers. The screen gets out of the way so the conversation can be the thing.

Because the call is a genuine face to face video chat, the small stuff carries again — timing, expression, the pause before a laugh. Those are the signals text strips out, and they are the whole reason to talk on camera instead of typing.

Get Your Camera and Mic Ready First

Before your first match, your browser will ask for camera and microphone permission. That prompt comes from the browser itself — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — and it appears only when you start matching. Saying yes is what makes the one to one video chat possible at all.

A quick self-check saves awkward first seconds: glance at your own preview to make sure the camera is uncovered and you are lit from the front, and confirm the right microphone is selected if you use a headset. If something looks wrong, fix it before you tap to match rather than during someone's hello.

Granted the wrong permission by accident? You can change or revoke camera and mic access anytime in your browser's site settings — the safety page explains where.

  • Permission Happens in the Browser

Camera and mic prompts are a browser feature — you can revoke them there too.

  • Check Yourself Before Matching

Ten seconds of lighting and camera checks beats a fumbled first hello.

  • Headset Friendly

Any microphone works, but a headset keeps echo out of the conversation.

Basic Call Etiquette

Open with a Real Hello

A smile and a normal greeting set the tone faster than any opening line. Treat the first ten seconds like meeting someone at a party.

Give the Call Your Attention

A one-on-one conversation works because both people are actually there. Looking away at another screen reads instantly on camera.

End It Kindly

When the conversation is done, a quick "take care" before you leave costs two seconds and leaves both people feeling fine about the match.

Ending a Session, Gracefully or Instantly

Every private video chat on GoMatch ends the same way: one person taps leave, and the call is over. There is no cooldown, no "are you sure?" dialog, and no penalty for being the one who ends it.

If the conversation was good, a short goodbye is a nice touch. If it was uncomfortable, skip the goodbye entirely — leaving instantly is always acceptable, and the in-app report option is there if someone's behavior deserves a second look. Either way, the next match is one tap behind the last one.

  • The Leave Button Is Always There

Visible during the whole call, never buried in a menu.

  • No Explanation Owed

Ending a call carries no social debt — it is how the format is meant to work.

  • Report After You Leave

Flag bad behavior from inside the app so moderators can review it.
