How Matching Works on GoMatch

From sign-in to face-to-face in five steps. This page walks through the actual flow — including the parts most sites skip, like permissions and what leaving a match does.

The Flow, Step by Step

  1. Create an Account or Sign In

Matching on GoMatch requires an account, so your first visit starts with a quick sign-up. Returning? Just sign in — your settings carry over.

  2. Open Matching and Allow Permissions

When you go to match, your browser asks for camera and microphone access. Grant it once and the browser remembers; you can revoke it later in the browser's site settings.

  3. Get Paired

Tap to say you are ready. The matching system finds another person who is available at the same moment — usually in seconds.

  4. Meet in a One-on-One Video Room

Both cameras connect in a private room built for exactly two people. Talk for as long as the conversation is working.

  5. Continue, or Leave and Re-Match

Stay as long as you like. When you are done, tap leave — then either call it a day or take the next match right away.

About Those Browser Permissions

Camera and microphone access are requested by your browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge — at the moment you start matching, not when you open this page. The prompt is the browser's own dialog, and its answer is stored by the browser, not invented by us.

If you ever want to take that permission back, you do it in the browser's site settings for gomatch.chat. The safety page walks through where that setting lives and why it matters.

  • Asked Once, at Match Time

Browsing the site never touches your camera — the prompt waits until you match.

  • Remembered by the Browser

Grant once and future sessions skip the prompt; deny and you can re-enable later.

  • Revocable Anytime

Site settings in your browser let you turn camera and mic back off whenever you want.

Leaving a Match, and Reporting One

Leaving is a first-class feature, not an afterthought. The leave button is visible for the entire call; tapping it ends the room for both people instantly. What you do next — re-match or take a break — is entirely up to you.

If a match goes beyond awkward into inappropriate, the report option lives inside the app. Use it after you leave and the moderation team can review the behavior. That combination — instant exit plus in-app reporting — is the core of how GoMatch handles safety in the product itself.

Curious about the feature philosophy behind all this? The video match page explains why the format is built around one pairing at a time.

  • Leave Is Always Visible

No menus, no confirmations — the call ends the moment you tap.

  • Re-Match in One Tap

The next pairing starts as soon as you say you are ready again.

  • Report Lives In-App

Flag inappropriate behavior from inside the product for moderator review.
